BENNE WAFERS
½
cup butter
1 egg
½ cup all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
¼ tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Vanilla
pinch of salt
1 cup Benne (sesame) seeds, toasted
coarse salt to sprinkle on wafers

Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
3. Cream butter and sugar together.
4. Whip in egg and vanilla. Stir in sifted ingredients and benne seeds.
5. Drop mix onto non-stick baking sheets by teaspoon, allowing room for
dough to spread.
6. Bake 8-10 minutes until cookies are set. Cool for a moment, then carefully
remove wafers to cooling rack.
7. Allow cookies to cool completely, can be made ahead and stored for 3-4
days in airtight plastic container.
