BOSTON BROWN BETTY

tbsp. melted butter
2 cups toasted breadcrumbs
4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 orange rind, grated
1 cup orange juice
½ cup sugar
½ tsp. Ground cinnamon
½ tsp. Ground nutmeg
butter for buttering mold

Blend together the melted butter and breadcrumbs.
2. Combine the orange rind with the juice, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
3. Butter a baking dish and make layers of buttered crumbs, then the apples
alternating each layer making the last layer the crumbs and sprinkle each
layer of the apples with the orange juice mixture using most.
4. Cover and bake in preheated 375° oven for 1 hour. Uncover for the
last ½ of cooking.
5. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
